Finding Light (2025)

Each piece in this collection is hand painted and one of a kind. Each captures fleeting sparks of happiness and light - fragments of hope.

These 5x7 pieces stand on their own, making them a perfect shelf sitter, or can be hung using the cradled wood frame. Some were created as a series of two, three or four, and can be set up that way or individually.

My materials: Caran d’Ache Neocolor ll, concentrated watercolors, acrylic and alcohol ink, acrylic paint, and oil pastels, on 140 lb. cold pressed paper. Mounted on cradled wood panels with gilded muted gold edges. Signed with initials on the side panel and full signature on backs. The finish on these is textural and can look either matte or satin, using archival methods, with the final layer being burnished cold wax.

Please note that the photos for each listing were taken in both natural and artificial lighting, so there may be slight discrepancies in colors for the same listing photos!

These are packaged with a card describing the collection, shipped carefully in padded mailers. Local pick up is also available, and will include a painted gift bag! I am happy to email a Certificate of Authenticity upon request.

About the artist: 

My name is Ruthi Drori Mitelman, and I am a multidisciplinary artist and maker.

I’ve been a Houston based art teacher and creative for the past 23 years, teaching art to students of all ages in HISD, at Glassell with the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, and at the ERJCC, as well as under my own brand Ruthi Makes. Being an artist is integral to my identity, and I’ve held a paintbrush for close to five decades, always creating works in many different media.

It is my life’s purpose to create and teach others the joy of creativity too!
